Wm McIvor and Son would like to congratulate Kevin Ryan and everyone at Hambleton Lodge Stables.

Kevin Ryan's Our Jonathan scooped the first prize in the Maisons-Laffitte: Criterium De Maisons-Laffitte (Group 2) on Tuesday November 3rd.

Racing prominently under Jamie Spencer, Our Jonathan hit the front at the furlong marker and stayed on strongly in the colours of Dr Marwan Koukash.

Winning trainer Kevin Ryan has had a great season with Our Jonathan who was bought by Koukash at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up sale for 25,000 guineas.

The colt has since won four of his six races including the Cornwallis Stakes at Ascot before his Criterium victory.

Ryan said: "We were worried about the ground before the race but he relaxed well. It was very testing out there. He stayed on well and is certainlya very good horse. Jamie waited in front before another horse went by to give a lead."

"It is difficult to say whether he will stay further as there wasn't much pace today. He won't race again this season and I must discuss plans with Doctor Koukash who has been a great supporter of my stable."

Spencer added: "He's going to be a very good horse in time. The colt has started to relax and he was nervous earlier in the season.

"We eventually got a good lead and he is bred to stay further. I never needed to use my whip."

Wm McIvor and Son are again delighted and proud to be associated with their sponsored Gold Medallist rider, Nicola Wilson after her superb efforts in helping Team GB win gold in the European Eventing Championships at Fontainebleau.

Two years after their win in Pratoni, Italy, and a nail-biting final Show Jumping phase where clear rounds proved elusive for many combinations, Team GBR have taken both the Team Gold Medal, and an Individual Gold and Silver Medal at the Senior HSBC FEI European Eventing Championships at Fontainebleau in France.

Team GBR held their position following table-topping dressage scores on Thursday and Friday, and then stormed across country on Saturday, posting five clear rounds out of six, albeit with a few time penalties, including two clear individual rounds, to retain their team lead by 57.9 penalty points.

Show jumping followed (Sunday), where the poles fell for many riders, including Great Britain, but Team GBR held their cool to clinch Team Gold with a final penalty score of 160.50.

Individual Gold was won by Tina Cook and her fantastic 11-year-old ride, Miners Frolic and Individual Silver was clinched by Senior team debutant, Piggy French.

Nicola Wilson, who made her debut for Team GBR says: “We had a fabulous week and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it - I feel exceptionally privileged and honoured. I very much enjoyed being the pathfinder as he is so lovely to ride across country and think we are so lucky to have such a fabulous support team which undoubtedly helped the team to win Team and individual medals.

"I am so pleased with how Opposition Buzz performed and I am particularly excited for Rosemary Search who not only is the owner but also bred him.

Lucy Wiegersma, who finished 13th individually says: “Overall I am very pleased with my horse’s performance as he is relatively inexperienced at this level, being only 10 years old. I am delighted for the team, especially for Tina and Piggy with their individual Gold and Silver Medals. He will now have a month off, then come back in over the winter to do some dressage and show jumping, after which he will be aimed for Badminton.”

Gold Medal winning team member Oliver Townend says :“I am really pleased for Yogi and the team and look forward to getting out again and competing next season.”

Mike Etherington-Smith, Chief Executive of British Eventing says: “This is a fantastic success for the sport of Eventing in Great Britain. Thanks go to the whole Team and their support network, including the World Class Performance Team, owners, grooms and coaches who helped get them there and who have been planning this for a very long time, working with the riders to ensure they and their horses arrived in France in the best possible condition.

"There was a fantastic team spirit and Team GBR led from day one. Everyone worked well together and in many cases achieved personal best performances."

Wm McIvor would like to congratulate everyone connected to the Dandy Nicholls Yard after their fantastic success in the Betfred Sprint Cup

Wm McIvor would like to congratulate everyone connected to the Dandy Nicholls Yard after Regal Parade's fantastic success in the Betfred Sprint Cup on Sat 5th September.

The five-year-old gelding was in the pack early on as Equiano and Sayif battled up front, while favourite Fleeting Spirit settled on the heels of the leaders.

The market leader was absolutely cantering two furlongs out as the pace-setters began to flag and once Tom Queally quickly kicked to the front it looked a sure thing.

But the filly drifted across the track inside the final furlong, allowing Regal Parade on the far side to prevail by half a length.

Fleeting Spirit had to settle for second, while Kieren Fallon's High Standing stayed on admirably to claim third, a further two lengths adrift.

Wm McIvor & Son would like to congratulate longstanding customer Tim Easterby and everyone at Habton Grange on their superb success last Thursday at York

Midnight Martini, the only filly in the DBS £300000 St Leger Yearling Stakes, landed the opening heat at York.
Tim Easterby's filly had won her last two starts but was nevertheless sent off a largely unconsidered 18-1 chance.
David Allan had his mount prominent throughout and just held off the late challenge of Carnaby Street (50-1) by a neck, with Sole Power the same distance away in third.

Allan said: "It's Ladies' Day and she was the only filly in the race. She was always travelling smoothly, but she just looked around a little bit in front.

"But when it came to it, she put her head down and battled away again."
Easterby said: "The owner's wife bought this horse at the sales. She's a very good judge of trainers and horses!
"It's great to win a race like this and she loves firm ground so we were glad to see the rain didn't arrive.
"I won this race a few years ago (2002) with Somnus so it's great to win it again."

John & Jason McIvor took part in the well supported Injures Jockeys fund Golf Day

John and Jason McIvor took part in the well supported Injures Jockeys fund Golf Day at Sandburn Golf Club, York on Monday 16th August.

Alongside their friend David Andrews they were partnered with former champion Jockey Keiren Fallon.
'Still widely regarded as the finest of his generation it was a pleasure to be partnered with a superstar of our sport' said Jason.

All money raised, along with proceeds from Jack Berrys new Autobiography, will go to building a rehabilitation Centre in the north of england.

It will be similar to the newly built Oaksey house in Lambourn, http://www.ijf.org.uk/pages/news.html where ex jockeys and stable staff can go and be cared for short/ long term to help get over whatever problems they may have.

A very well deserved cause !

Wm McIvor and Son would like to congratulate long standing customer David Barron and all connections of Sirvino for winning the John Smiths Cup at York recently.

Sirvino completed his rags-to-riches story by taking his unbeaten record this season to five in the 50th John Smith's Cup at York.

Thirsk trainer David Barron paid just £3,000 for the horse as a yearling at Newmarket and the gelding has now won £120,000 in prize-money for property developers Theo Williams and Charles Mocatta.

Giving 3lb claimer Neil Brown his biggest success, the 16-1 shot foiled the gallant attempt by Ryan Moore on The Queen's runner Kingdom Of Fife to make all the running in this valuable heritage handicap.

Joining the leader two furlongs out, Sirvino forged clear to win by two and three-quarter lengths.
Albaqaa finished strongly for third, two and a half lengths away, with Seeking The Buck fourth.
"I thought he was a nice horse but I never thought we would be here today at the start of the season," said Barron.
"He is a nice horse and has a good attitude. I'm getting older now and I like these types. You are dreaming all the time but when you get slot 16 you think, 'oh dear here we go', but Neil's a good lad. I left it entirely to him and not to push forward too soon and to get to rail as soon as you can after the bend. I've never won this race before and have only had a couple of runners."
Hawick-born Brown, 23, said: "With every run he's got better and better - he's so straightforward. I was a further back than I would have liked but I managed to get a run up the rails."
