After a 16 year gap, the British Team have claimed gold at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in a nail-biting battle with Canada, the USA and New Zealand and William Fox-Pitt took Silver, his first ever World Championship individual medal.

Nicola Wilson and Opposition Buzz had extra pressure on them to perform – first it was the dressage, then first to go around yesterday's tricky cross country and now to secure a clear round to keep the team in contention for the gold medal. She rode the round of her life on an exuberant Opposition Buzz to go clear all the way and inside the time which was proving difficult to do. They finished on their dressage score of 51.2 which was good enough for 15th place. "I'm delighted and quite emotional! He's an unorthodox jumper and I worry about him having back rails down but not today. I'm so proud of him. When I walked the course I thought it would suit him and that time would be tight. To complete on my dressage score is such an achievement – I just want to hug the horse! Yes I had pressure on me all week but I knew what I had to do," said an elated Nicola. Alistair, Nicola's husband, later said that an American lady met him in the Stadium and put a dime (10 cent coin) in his hand and she said it was luck for his horse – well, thank you whoever you are!

Frankie Dettori won the Ayr Gold Cup for the second year in a row, this time on board 14-1 shot Dandy Nicholls trained Redford.
Dettori had to forgo his first mount of the day after missing a flight but stormed to victory from the stands side on the Dandy Nicholls-trained horse.
Redford's stablemate Victoire De Lyphar (8-1) was second, two and a quarter lengths back. Hitchens (25-1) took third, with Genki (8-1) in fourth.
Tajneed was withdrawn after breaking out of the front of the stalls.
Europe's richest sprint handicap had been won by North Yorkshire-based Nicholls an astonishing five times in the last decade.
The Marwan Koukash-owned five-year-old mount charging from behind on the final furlong to overtake Victoire De Lyphar, ridden by the trainer's son Adrian Nicholls.
"I was only ever a couple of lengths down so I wasn't panicking," added Dettori, who is now the leading jockey at Ayr.
"This fellow is trained by the Sprint King Dandy Nicholls and when he rang me up for the ride I was delighted. I promised him I'd win."
Nicholls, meanwhile, immediately looked to fresh challenges for Redford, who had finished 10th in last year's race.
"The next engagement for Redford will be Ascot next Saturday [for the Challenge Cup] and I cannot imagine he'll be running in many handicaps after that," Nicholls said.
David Barron trained Colonel Mak (33-1) beat Sonny Red (25-1) to claim the Silver Cup, with three of the first four home all coming from low draws. Misplaced Fortune (12-1) was third, with Advanced (14-1) fourth.

Nicola Wilson selected to represent Great Britain at the World Equestrian Games

After success at both Barbury CIC 3* and Blair CIC 3*, Nicola Wilson has again been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Equestrian Games, which take place in Kentucky from 25th September until 10th October. We all wish her and the Team a safe and successful trip and are very proud to be associated with such a successful young international rider.

Superstars Nicola and Opposition Buzz Win at Barbury CIC***

Nicola Wilson's berth on the World Equestrian Games eventing team seems secure after she won the St James' Place Wealth Management Barbury CIC*** with the infallible cross-country machine, Opposition Buzz.

Wilson, for whom this was only a second ever international win, has focussed on dressage since Badminton, and it showed. The partnership's 45pen score was good enough for third place going into cross-country. This enabled them to capitalise on the cautious time of Pippa Funnell (Redesigned) and cross-country error of Andrew Nicholson (Avebury), her only two opponents for the £4,000 first prize.

"A place for Kentucky would be lovely, but I am just thrilled with how the horse went," said Nicola, 33. "He did his best dressage score by far here, and he just tried so hard. He's always been a fantastic horse to ride."

Everyone at McIvors is delighted at their achievements and wish them and all connections, all the best in the near future.
